Needing to be tough in a fragile world
Today we grumble about just about everything. Having to drive back to the store because we forgot something; too many commercials on TV interrupting our favorite program; lack of “likes” on a social media post; the cost to live life all while worrying about how we look, feel, what others might think and that tomorrow will pretty much be the same as today.
Some thoughts from a PFA
Any place can be uniquely beautiful, but it’s the people who have lived there all their lives who are the caretakers. Mainers know what they’re doing, and you — the vacationer, the new resident, even the one-time visitor — are here because of that. Missing hugs and handshakes
Though normal feels so far away right now, the distance between us today will bring us back together and make those handshakes and hugs feel that much more gratifying tomorrow. It will feel like sunlight on the face after a long, dark night.
The Exiles
The gift of a necklace from a mother to her daughter, words from a father to his daughter about the rings of a tree — both offer the same lesson: We live making our story by remembering those that came before us giving us theirs.
Blue Summer
Music is powerful. Faced with a trying situation, even that sometimes maddening memory, when looking for peace we often turn to music. A particular song, composition or even a melody can move one to another place, chase away the turmoil and bring peace.
Beneficence
This beautifully told story reminded me of a quilt being made, a family heirloom that is sewn by loving hands stitch-by-stitch. Its patterns are of family, its colors are of love and the light it holds constantly changes from shadow to bright white.
